Alysena 21 and Alysena 28 are oral contraceptive tablets.
In 2018, Health Canada issued a series of advisories and a recall concerning Alysena birth control pills, warning Canadians that all lots of both Alysena 21 or Alysena 28 may have contained chipped pills, which could reduce the effectiveness of the contraceptives in preventing pregnancy.
A Canadian court approved a settlement to resolve certain class action lawsuits that were brought against the makers of Alysena in the wake of the advisories. The settlement is now closed to new claims. The Claims Deadline for the settlement passed on July 10, 2024.
