Alberta may not often be perceived as a leader in environmental regulation, but they do some things much better than we do in Ontario. For example, consider access to private reports on environmental contamination that have been filed with the province. In Ontario, these reports can be accessed, slowly and with difficulty, through access to information requests. In Alberta, they are on a website.

Anyone who wants to see environmental reports on a property need only type in its unique lot number. Some correspondence and other official records are also available. Very useful. Very impressive. Congratulations, Alberta Environment!
