New fee for Ontario environmental sector registry

As of October 28, 2012, the Ministry of the Environment now charges $1,190ย to register an activity in the an Environmental Activity and Sector Registry (EASR). Seeย EBR Registry Number: 011-6549. This is part of a general raising of fees across the Ontario government, as recommend by the Drummond Report.

Good news: Dioxin dropping in food

The European Food Safety Authorityย has published a new report on levels of dioxins and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in food and feed. It shows that dioxin levels in food and feed are continuing to gradually drop, likely due to the spread and enforcement of stricter food standards and air emission controls.
