Environment Canada has released a consultation document, proposing elements of future regulations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from new heavy-duty vehicles. Essentially, Canada will adopt the same rules as the US.

In Canada, transportation accounts for about a quarter of greenhouse gas emissions; one quarter of this is from heavy-duty vehicles. In other words, heavy trucks account for about six per cent of total greenhouse gas emissions in Canada.
